American Advertising Awards - Washington, DC (formerly the DC ADDYs)

One of AAF DC’s premier events, the American Advertising Awards - Washington, DC recognizes creative excellence in advertising. The competition is the first level in a multi-tiered national event. Volunteers are needed for logging, judging, gallery set-up, and event logistics. Subcommittees include creative (invitation, call for entries, program, winners’ book), video, sponsorships, and publicity. The gala celebrating the winners is held in early spring.

Ad 2 DC

Ad 2 DC members are the young professionals of AAF DC. Ad 2 DC is a subset of the AAF DC membership, representing and providing programming for professionals age 32 and under in the industry.

ADWKDC

ADWKDC is a year's worth of great programming packed into one amazing week for the area's marketing community. It offers top-notch speakers, with relevant and thought-provoking topics, so that advertising and marketing professionals can learn new information and perspectives that help them in their career, as well as networking opportunities.  The steering committee is broken into sub-committees for venues, speakers/panelists, sponsorship, creative materials, and public relations to promote the week-long event, which takes place in fall of each year.

Communications

The Communications Committee keeps the growing AAF DC membership and online community connected through social media channels including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, blogger and media relations and e-marketing. The team creates shareable content and promotes high-value events, programs and services benefiting advertising profession throughout the metro area.

Diversity and Multicultural Initiatives

The Diversity and Multicultural Initiatives Committee works within the local advertising community to increase the diversity of speakers and topics offered at events, provide professional development opportunities, and to raise awareness of careers in advertising to a diverse audience.

AAF DC's Foundation

The Foundation is dedicated to fostering the education of students pursuing careers in advertising. Creates and distributes internship directories; attends career fairs to maximize outreach; hosts fundraising events; purchases tickets to AAF DC events for local college students to attend; awards scholarship money to deserving students when appropriate.

Events

The Events (or programs) Committee identifies and plans programs that address the needs of the wide range of AAF DC members. Members of this committee work to contact potential speakers, help formulate the programs, develop creative for event materials and work to organize the most effective way to publicize each program.

Golf Outing

This committee works to sell sponsorships for holes, plan event logistics, and develop creative for event materials. Committee members will also work with local vendors to secure prizes. The annual Golf Outing is held in late summer/early fall of each year.

GoodWorks

GoodWorks is AAF DC’s committee dedicated to promoting and enhancing public service efforts in the DC Advertising and Marketing community. AAF DC members work with nonprofit organizations to assist them in achieving their goals through various means such as branding, marketing, volunteering and mentoring. The GoodWorks Committee has two means to help contribute: our long-term partnership with a selected charity, and through GoodWorks Connect, a listing page of charities that are seeking assistance.

Membership

The Membership Committee identifies and targets key organizations and individual members, develops promotions to attract and retain members, initiates and analyzes annual surveys and qualitative outreach, and contacts new members to welcome them to the organization.

Nonprofit Media Program

The Nonprofit Media Program works closely with media companies and nonprofits, connecting nonprofits with low-cost advertising from some of the premier media outlets in the Washington, DC area.

Sponsorship

The Sponsorship Committee works closely with the Board and all other committees to secure funds to support events and programs. This committee recommends sponsorship programs for programs and events and works to define the levels of sponsorship. The committee explores sustaining sponsorships for AAF DC; develops and implements strategies for attracting new sponsors; solicits targeted sponsorships and ensures sponsor benefits are provided and sponsors are satisfied with their participation in the organization.
