Communications Coordinator (Designer)

Position Description: 

Potomac Management Resources is looking for an organized, Adobe-experienced designer with web experience. Drupal experience a plus. Interviews will include a portfolio review.

Potomac Management Resources is a full-service association management company based in Alexandria, VA. We provide management services and technical expertise to 18 nonprofits in the DC area.

Electronic Communications

Websites

  • Provide relevant and timely graphic content for client websites according to client content strategy
  • Monitor websites where clients post info
  • Assist with website updates as needed
  • Develop new websites, website features, web graphics, and apps as needed with assistance from Communications Managers
  • Maintain and edit CSS files on existing sites
  • Improve user interfaces for clients, members, public and Account staff
  • Facilitate CMS solutions to alleviate Account staff’s challenges
Email
  • Design and maintain branded HTML email templates to current standards
  • Develop and distribute member bulletins (content to be prepared by Account staff in conjunction with committee members)
  • Distribute event promotions via mass-email and social media
  • Distribute other announcements as needed
  • Work with Account staff to maintain email lists and adhere to blast email best practices
Printed Communications

Includes newsletters, promotional materials (invitations, programs), brochures, annual reports, member directories, marketing collateral

  • Serve as production editor for client newsletters
  • Coordinate and collect content, edit/proofread and manage production and distribution (either through hard copy, Web, or email)
  • Coordinate with designer as needed
  • Work with committee to develop visual brand for client or special events
  • Design original graphics and layout as needed
  • Prepare original content as needed
  • Coordinate ad placement/sponsor recognition
  • Coordinate with commercial printers as needed
Administrative
  • Develop/monitor style sheets/preference document for each client
  • Review materials before distribution (from Account Director or volunteer)
  • Develop communications schedule for each client in cooperation with Account Staff
  • Ensure client protocol regarding drafts and approvals is followed
General
  • Answering phone lines (PMR and all clients)
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Maintain organized filing system
  • Effectively communicate project status with other team members
  • Complete special projects as assigned
Qualifications: 
  • 0-2 years experience in field
  • Organized, high level attention to detail
  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks and meet required deadlines
  • Professionalism and strong work ethic
  • Capacity to work in a team environment
Other: 
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
  • Ability to work from our office location, currently at 400 North Washington Street, Suite 300, Alexandria, VA 22314
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications, HTML, CSS; familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, email clients, web browsers
  • High level of customer service and interpersonal skills
