CHIEF Promotes Amanda Nguyen and Jeff Walter to Principal

January 22, 2018

CHIEF announced the promotions of Amanda Nguyen to Principal and Director of Marketing Strategy, and Jeff Walter to Principal and Creative Director.

The move is a reflection of their industry-leading subject matter expertise, tireless work ethic and agency-wide leadership. With this promotion, they join Margaret Johnson, Scott Johnson, Chris Lester, Dave Rinaldo, Clay Marshall and Anuj Vedak as Principals at CHIEF.

Nguyen is a well-respected and experienced marketing and communications industry veteran, whose impact has stretched across several sectors. She began her career at USDA, first as a press officer, later ushering in the department’s first official social media accounts and other new media strategies, and serving as the Director of Web Communications. Nguyen took over CHIEF’s Marketing Strategy practice in 2014, growing it significantly in terms of size, capability and revenue. She joined the AAF DC Board of Directors in November 2017.

“Amanda is an incredible member of the CHIEF team and brought a new dimension to the work we do. She’s smart, level-headed and is a clear-cut leader at CHIEF and in our industry. She’s been a major catalyst in our recent growth and a huge influence on shaping our culture and position in the marketplace,” said CHIEF Co-Founder and President, Margaret Johnson.

Walter has honed his creative expertise for nearly two decades, delivering award-winning experiences for government, nonprofit and commercial clients. Prior to joining CHIEF nearly six years ago, he built his portfolio and expertise in the retail sector with Tween Brands, in addition to experience at small and large agencies. His relentless drive and desire to continuously improve has pushed to CHIEF to new heights, including the elevation of its brand practice and its reputation as one of the top creative agencies in DC.

“Jeff is a visionary. Few work harder than he does and he is the definition of leading by example. To have someone like that not only directly contributing to our clients’ success and work, but also grooming our creative team to push for that same level of excellence, is truly inspiring,” said Ms. Johnson.

This announcement adds a new chapter to CHIEF’s 30-year story of doing brilliant work. Recent highlights include establishing a west coast office in Portland, bringing on talented new team members and clients, receiving numerous industry awards and bringing the bravery through transformative work across our diverse portfolio.

CHIEF, a full-service agency, is always brave and pushing forward to create new possibilities for government, nonprofits and commercial clients through innovative branding, communication and technology. For 30 years, CHIEF has stayed at the forefront of transformative change—creating opportunities, developing strategies and implementing results-driven campaigns that give its clients the advantage to succeed.
