Position Description: 

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Marketing, the Marketing Coordinator is a member of the team responsible for all aspects of the Newseum’s marketing, public relations, and sales initiatives. The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for detailed execution of numerous projects in a fast-paced environment that support various elements of the Newseum business including special events, fundraising, education and the destination itself.

  • Assisting the department in the development and administration of the annual marketing plan and special-event campaigns.
  • Participating in, and contributing to, various strategy and creative sessions.
  • Generating project guides, such as timelines, production requirements, meeting notes and other materials.
  • Researching new promotional opportunities and maintaining a catalogue of prospective media and marketing partnerships.
  • Trafficking marketing deliverables and maintaining the museum’s creative archive.
  • Coordinating collateral fulfillment, including on and off-site brochure distribution and direct mailings.

  • Management of the department’s operational budget and billing.
  • Supporting initiatives led by the Senior Manager of Group Sales and the Director of Public Relations as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and three to five years of professional marketing experience, preferably in an attractions, tourism or entertainment field.
  • Excellent project-management and organizational skills, with very strong attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative, tackle new assignments and meet tight deadlines with fast turnaround times.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with CRM software a plus.
