Club of the YearThe DC Ad Club has been named Division I Club of the Year by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The honor recognizes the club’s overall leadership and achievement in the eight categories of the Club Achievement Awards competition. Sherri Anne Green, 2011-2013 DC Ad Club president will be honored as Club President of the Year. In addition to the Club of the Year award, the DC Ad Club and Ad 2 DC earned 8 Club Achievement Awards—including three for first place—in the annual competition. The DC Ad Club competes against chapters with 500 members and more; Ad 2 DC competes against young professional chapters. Competing in eight categories with clubs of comparable size from across the country, the DC Ad Club won top honors in three categories: Programs, Communications, and Diversity & Multicultural Initiatives. This is the second year in a row the DC Ad Club has received first-place honors in Communications and the third year in a row the club has been recognized in the Advertising Education and Programs categories. The DC Ad Club was recognized for its successful events such as Advertising Week DC, Between Downs, and the Best of DC series; its social media and outreach initiatives; research commissioned to better understand the local market; and promotion of the advertising industry to members, students, and the general public. Ad 2 DC, a subset of the club for professionals age 32 and younger, competed with other young professional chapters to win third place for Programs and Public Service. This is the fifth year in a row Ad 2 DC has been recognized for Programs. “The designation of Club of the Year demonstrates overall achievement in all areas of club operation and excellence in planning and execution by club leaders,” said Joanne Schecter, Executive Vice President of AAF’s Club Services. “Through the Club of the Year and President of the Year Awards, we salute the work of the DC Ad Club and pay tribute to the Board, the members, and President Sherri Anne Green for their significant contributions to their local advertising community and the industry at large.” The awards will be presented at the AAF National Conference, ADMERICA! 2014, to be held May 28-31, in Boca Raton, FL.
