Position Description: 

A mid-size (and growing) media and digital strategy firm with offices in the 14th Street corridor of NW, Washington, DC is looking to hire an Senior Interactive Designer or Jr. Interactive Art Director into a full-time position on its Interactive Design team.

The individual hired for this role will support the VP of Interactive and two highly experienced Interactive Art Directors, as well as Developers and Content Specialists. The work will involve digital campaigns and website development projects for numerous causes, associations, political organization, companies and more. The Senior Interactive Designer (or Jr. Interactive AD) will interface directly with internal stakeholders and external clients.

The hiring organization is looking for someone with a strong sense of aesthetic and demonstrable experience in as many of the following areas as possible: Web Interface Design, Tablet/Mobile Design, UI/UX, Information Graphics Design, Interactive Data Visualization Design, and Social Media Design. Experience leading interactive projects is a definite plus. This person also should possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively with teams and co-workers.

Brainstorm Creative Resources has known the VP of Interactive at the hiring firm for many years.

Qualifications: 

  • Our client has suggested that an undergraduate degree in a highly relevant field of study and/or at least two years of experience will suffice. It is Brainstorm Creative Resources' perspective that this is a terrific opportunity for a recent graduate who is a true standout among his/her peers OR an individual who brings as many as five years of recent experience in an external or in-house agency setting.
  • A portfolio of student case study or professional work that aligns closely with the skill areas indicated in the Position Overview.
  • Experience with UX practices for the creation of sitemap and wireframe deliverables to outline content and functionality requirements in digital projects.
  • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite using Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • No coding experience required. However well qualified candidates will have a solid understanding of capabilities / limitations for front-end code (HTML, CSS, Javascript).
  • Good communication and writing skills.

Other: 

This firm's offices are in the 14th Street corridor of NW, DC and are easily accessible. We expect hours for the full-time positions to be roughly M-F, 9am-5pm.

Our client has indicated a target salary range of up to $65K -- and a sincere interest in receiving our guidance regarding salary based on the inquiries we receive from well qualified applicants. Therefore we believe there may be an opportunity to push the salary just a bit higher for extremely well qualified candidates. It is also the case though that terrific, early career designers would be offered salaries more in-line with their experience.
